Vidzeme is a cultural and historical region in central and northern Latvia, renowned for its distinctive natural landmarks, such as Latvia’s longest river, the 460-kilometre-long Gauja; its highest peak, Gaiziņkalns, reaching 311.6 metres above sea level; the largest cave, Gūtmaņala, with a height of 10 metres, a width of 12 metres, and a depth of 18.8 metres; sandstone cliffs; and the rocky coastline of Vidzeme.

Vidzeme showcases nature in all its splendour. The 460 km-long Gauja River meanders through stunning landscapes, while Gaiziņkalns, at 311.6 m, is Latvia’s highest peak. The region also features the impressive Gūtmaņala cave, with walls bearing historical inscriptions. Sandstone cliffs and Vidzeme’s distinctive rocky coastline, standing in contrast to typical sandy beaches, make the area truly unforgettable.
