Ethnographic Guesthouse Gungas is a unique recreational destination in Latvia. Nestled in a pine forest on the shores of Lake Dūņezers, it features five authentic and historic truly Latvian log houses, each brought from different corners of Latvia and placed together in one location. At Gungas, the historic rural charm of Latvia blends with modern comfort. Here, in an idyllic setting of peace and quiet, embraced by nature, we will take care of your relaxation.

Gungas is perfect for celebrations and relaxation at any time of the year, with any company, and for celebrating special life events. We warmly welcome guests for family and friends’ get-togethers, weddings, as well as seminars and corporate events.

Gungas is located in the Ādaži municipality, about 30 km from the center of Riga and approximately 10 km from the sea.

ACCOMMODATION AT GUNGAS

The ethnographic guesthouse Gungas offers its guests relaxation in five authentic 19th-century log houses, suitable for relaxation all year round. Our century-old houses are equipped with modern amenities, allowing you to enjoy your stay in any season.

The houses can be rented separately for smaller celebrations, seminars, retreats, creative workshops, relaxation with family and friends, as well as for the entire guesthouse area for private or larger events and celebrations.

The largest and central “Godu māja” is suitable for larger events of up to about 60 people. Our special “Laivu mājas” hall is ideal for events of up to about 40 people. For comfortable accommodation, all houses combined can accommodate 40 people, and if necessary, additional beds can be added, increasing the guest capacity to 55.

ACTIVITIES

The adjacent Lake Dūņezers offers refreshing activities during the summer months and various activities in the winter months. Gungas offers several boats and canoes, suitable for both romantic boat trips and various hobbies, such as fishing. The lake is home to several popular fish species, including carp, pike, eel, roach, and perch. You can enjoy your catch immediately by cooking it over a campfire.

The “Meldri” sauna house is ideal for relaxation and health restoration, offering a traditional Latvian sauna experience. Afterward, you can refresh yourself in the lake or enjoy a romantic sunset in the wooden hot tub, which can be heated for enjoyment even in the colder months.

In the pine forest surrounding the guesthouse, there are several hiking and biking routes, which can also be used for cross-country skiing in the snowy winters. Additionally, the forest offers opportunities to enjoy nature’s bounty through berry-picking and mushrooming.
