More information about the project

Within the framework of the project, it is planned to increase the export capacity of the Latvian tourism sector by promoting the creation and promotion of innovative, personalized tourism products and products with high added value. This aligns with the mission defined in the Latvian Tourism and Events Industry Promotion Strategy 2023–2027, while adhering to the principles of sustainable development.

In the context of cooperation, the creation of thematic routes (especially in connection with international routes) is highlighted, as well as the equally important maintenance and improvement of existing routes. The creation of competitive, complex, and innovative tourism products is possible through collaboration between various participants in the tourism and related industries. This approach ensures not only a wide range of services but also a coordinated and multifaceted experience, including cultural, educational, entertainment, nature, and adventure aspects. Thus, this cooperation not only creates innovative tourism products but also promotes local economic development and sustainable tourism flows.

From January 15 to 18, Helsinki hosted the Nordic region’s largest tourism exhibition and travel fair, MATKA 2026, where representatives and members of the Vidzeme Tourism Cooperation Network actively participated.

Each year, the exhibition attracts over 56,000 visitors, including approximately 15,500 industry professionals, confirming its significance as a leading platform for international cooperation, tourism trend development, and the formation of new partnerships in Northern Europe and beyond.
