To mitigate the impact of the pandemic on cultural tourism, the CHRISTA project has been extended until September 2022.

For the 14th time, the European Cultural Tourism Network (ECTN) conference was held in Athens. At the conference, titled "Regenerating European Tourism through Culture, Heritage and Creativity," participants discussed the latest trends in cultural heritage and opportunities for sustainable tourism, including innovation, digitalization, creativity, and the development of cultural tourism products. Emphasis was placed on the significant role that cultural heritage and creative tourism play in the recovery of European tourism following the pandemic crisis of 2020 and 2021.

The Gulbene Educational and Interactive Center (IIC) "Railway and Steam" (Dzelzceļš un Tvaiks) has won the top prize in the joint awards competition "Destination of Sustainable Cultural Tourism," organized by the European Cultural Tourism Network (ECTN), Europa Nostra, NECSTouR, and the European Travel Commission, in the category "Railway Heritage in Cultural Tourism."

On August 23rd, in Cēsis, a training seminar for the Estonia-Latvia Programme project "Military Heritage" titled "Opportunities for Mutual Cooperation within Vidzeme Military Heritage Tours" took place.
