The Vidzeme Tourism Information Market concluded in the spirit of Meteņi!
Braving the snow and wind in anticipation of spring and summer, tourism and creative industry professionals gathered at Castle Square (Pils laukums) in Cēsis on February 5th to introduce visitors of the Vidzeme Tourism Information Market to the news and offers of the 2022 tourism season.
During the festivities, Ilze Briede, the hostess of Branti Manor from Smiltene Municipality, ensured a delicious, warm, and joyful Meteņi (traditional Latvian spring welcoming) atmosphere. The Turaida Museum’s game for identifying archaic words and ancient objects challenged many visitors. Everyone who participated received a museum reserve event calendar and a souvenir.
Balvu Municipality introduced visitors to the work of the North Latgale Business and Tourism Center – a new tourism guide, as well as sauna rituals and health products from Arnita’s Wellness Workshop.
Valmiera Municipality was represented by tourism professionals alongside Mini Zoo “Mežiņi” and the winery “Matilde.” Two rabbits from the mini zoo remained at the center of attention, and the warm rabbit-wool insoles from “Mežiņi” warmed many market participants, while the aroma of homemade wines brought back memories of summer.
The Gulbenes Municipality agency “Gulbene Tourism and Cultural Heritage Center,” together with “A Ceramics” and “Mindset and Heels,” delighted visitors with elegant ceramic tableware and jewelry, as well as extensive information about the municipality’s tourism offers. “Vecpāpāni” from Gulbene invited guests to explore their home beverage production and a self-made trail leading to interesting stone formations.
At the Alūksne Tourism Information Center tent, visitors could admire and purchase works by master craftsman Uģis Puzulis and gather great ideas for visiting the “Winter Capital.” Every visitor to the Alūksne stand could participate in an educational game about the region and receive a prize.
“Veselības laboratorija” (Health Laboratory), through stories and tastings, along with “Cesis Inside” and their educational, adventure-filled hikes and excursions, invited visitors to visit the production facility and explore the Cēsis district.
The wickerwork of Edīte Aurēna inspired guests to visit the weaving workshop and purchase elegant crafts in Priekuļi Parish. “Jaun-Ieviņas” provided warmth with an open fire and the sound of drums, allowing guests to experience the atmosphere of an ancient settlement.
The Vidzeme Tourism Association introduced market participants to the newly published maps of the Latvia-Russia cross-border project “Greenways Riga-Pskov” and the new Latvian Cycling Route map.
The Vidzeme Tourism Association and the society “Vidzeme Creative Beehives” (Vidzemes Radošie stropi) thank all participants of the Vidzeme Tourism Information Market and the Cēsis Municipality, wishing everyone a successful, busy, and cooperation-oriented co-creation!
