The partners in a brand new EU-Funded project related to the northern section of EuroVelo 13 – Iron Curtain Trail gathered in Warsaw this week for the Kick Off Meeting.
Vidzeme Tourism Association (VTA) presented CHARTS at the 21th International Travel Trade Fair “Balttour 2014” at Kipsala International Exhibition Centre. VTA introduced visitors and stakeholders with results and outputs of project and CHARTS Award contest for destinations in Europe.

New green heritage tourist route has been compiled in a common tourist route map. The route is unique in the way that the Manor Houses with adjoining parks in St.Petersburg and Pskov (Russia), Rapina (Estonia), Gulbene and Riga (Latvia) are gathered in one map. Project „Green Heritage” partners from Latvia, Estonia and Russia for the first time jointly presented the route map in „Balttour 2014” (Latvia) and „Tourest 2014” (Estonia), but in March it will be presented to visitors of the biggest tourism Exchange „ITB Berlin” (Germany) and travel and tourism fair „MITT Moscow” (Russia).
For centuries, pubs have had a significant role in Latvian daily life. This has been a place for travellers to stop for a while, to have a meal or to stay for a night and find out the latest news and rumours of the neighbourhood. Here, Latvian peasants with pleasure had a mug or two of a drink after work. The stories of the funny events in the pub, both, above the table and under it, have found their reflection in Latvian songs.
The CHARTS Award is open to all tourism destinations across Europe with its 28 Member States, incl. Norway and Switzerland
From the 28th until 29th of November, 2013 in Mallorca, Spain was held the last CHARTS thematic workshop related to cultural routes hosted by Mallorca Council - Environment Department, Spain.
